Our teachers are chosen on the basis of their academic background and their personal commitment to working with young children and their families. The teaching staff consists of nine professionals who have degrees in Early Childhood Education (both BA's and/or a graduate degree) or a related field. All WCNS staff regularly participate in in-service training to keep them informed of new information in the field. Each staff member is certified in CPR annually and many are trained in First Aide. The staff is a cohesive and caring group of educators who reflect the values and traditions of Winnetka Community Nursery School.
Our staff meet monthly to discuss the progress of students, classroom curriculum, current projects and assessments. Professional development is a top priority for all of our teachers and administration and the school community is very supportive of their endeavors. Many of our teachers present at workshops for their colleagues, write pieces for our school newsletter, and contribute to the newsletter of The Alliance for Early Childhood.
