Nursery School Programs

Winnetka Community Nursery School offers a full range of preschool programs that meet the needs of the younger 2-year-old through 6-year-old.  We also offer enrichment programs in a number of specialized areas.  Our programs provide the child with opportunities to learn and explore plus time to reflect.  To provide this rich experience, we use both indoor and outdoor spaces throughout the year.

Junior Kindergarten Classes

8:45 am – 11:15 am M-F (5 Day Program)

12:30 pm - 3:00 pm M-TH (4 Day Program) *PM JK and PM 3s classes may be combined based on enrollment

Child must be 4 by September 1, 2013

The WCNS Junior Kindergarten Program offers opportunity for early childhood growth and discovery in our age appropriate environments providing:

• Within our indoor and outdoor learning spaces, children find the world of learning, socialization and exploration exciting and engaging

• Focus includes indoor and outdoor learning areas that are designed for art, sand and water discovery, book reading, music and movement, block building, table games and pretend play

• Student/certified teacher ratio 18:2

Older 2's Preschool Classes

Child must be born between 9/1/2010 and 2/28/2011

 

8:45 am – 11:15 am T and TH (2 days)

• Older 2's are introduced to learning and exploration in our caring, indoor and outdoor environments with caring and experienced teachers.

• Focus includes sensory and socialization experiences using language, literacy, nature and fine arts

Student/certified teacher ratio 12:2

Younger 2's Preschool Classes

Child must be born between 1/1/2011 and 9/1/2011

8:45 am – 11:15 am T and TH (2 days)

• Our youngest children are introduced to learning and exploration in our caring, indoor and outdoor environments with caring and experienced teachers.

• Focus includes sensory and socialization experiences using language, literacy, nature and fine arts

Student/certified teacher ratio 10:2

Splendid Day Enrichment

Child must be three by September 1, 2013

11:30 am – 4:30 pm M-F (children can be enrolled in 1 to 5 days)

• A mixed-age classroom (ages 3-kindergarten), uniquely designed for the interests and developmental level of both preschoolers and kindergartners

• Specially designed enrichment program for parents and children wanting a longer school day (pick up time is flexible between 3:00 – 4:30 p.m.)

• Children create, explore and discover in a nurturing, inviting and intentionally designed environment in both our indoor and outdoor learning spaces

• Morning nursery school students transition directly to Splendid Day; District 36 students are bused directly from kindergarten

• Includes a delicious, hot organic lunch served family-style, creating an important opportunity to increase social and conversational skills with peers and teachers

• Student/certified teacher ratio 18:2
