Winnetka Community Nursery School offers a fun and enriching seven-week program for children aged 2 ½ to 5 years old. Our unique summer camp focuses on learning by discovery and exploration using both our indoor and outdoor learning centers. Children are taught by highly qualified early childhood teachers who nurture and challenge children in a small group setting. WCNS fosters the imagination, creativity, socialization and gross motor development of children through play. Some of our exciting camp activities are:
Outdoor Exploration
Children are encouraged to use their imagination in our great outdoor space. We climb trees, swing, ride tricycles, play basketball, paint the art wall, create masterpieces in the sand, work in the garden, as well as read and draw in our tree studio. Campers can bring swimsuits and stay cool playing in our sprinklers and at our water tables.
Indoor Discovery
Campers learn to cook with simple and fun recipes; create art through a variety of medium, play music, build with blocks; experiment with science activities and more.
Special Presenters
Special presenters with exciting shows are a highlight for the campers each week. These special guests entertain and introduce the children to exotic animals, artistic performances, story- telling, sports demonstrations and other special events.
Field Trips
Older campers have fun taking adventure walks and exploring along the Green Bay Trail and through the village of Winnetka. We occasionally take the older children to one of the village parks.
